Hello! My name is Centria (real-life name of Kathy) and I live in the woods of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Please feel to stop by and read the stories of my 365 days of committment to step outside & explore the outdoors. I will also try to post pictures of this adventure. The first “official” entry (besides an introduction) is Solstice Night, December 21, 2008. Hope you enjoy the adventures among trees, snow, sun and the many-colored offerings of the Earth.

Hi Lou,
It is such a pleasure to be here with you reading your great outdoor winter adventures. Your photos are stunning. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to do outdoor vinyasa flow yoga in the summer?

Liza, consider yourself invited! You can come up the U.P. and teach me yoga next summer. We’ll have to learn to flow with the mosquitos and black flies as well, most probably…. Thanks for reading this 365 day blog, dear friend.

Good afternoon,
Fantastic concept! I was wondering if you’d be willing to write a guest post over at my blog (www.yoopersteez.com/blog/) it’d be great to share your idea, and to attract some more readers to your blog. I think people would be interested in reading what you’re up to.
If you’d like to, just shoot me an e-mail.
Best,
Bugsy

thank you- thank you- thank you!!!! I feel incapable of expressing just how very much we have enjoyed your stunning photos and interesing blogs. you and the sentinel newspaper are our connection to the land we have fallen so much in love with. we spent years researching and exploring communities to retire to and this is our final winter in cleveland. we have purchased land just down the road from you. i was there in Dec just before Christmas and camped out for several nights. There was heavy snowfall and near zero temps but oh how exhilarating!! Anxious to meet you and Barry and to hear more of your wonderful UP experiences. Forever grateful – Cheri

Cheri, I just tried to email you but the email was sent back undeliverable. I so appreciate your interest & reading this blog & the Sentinel! I am also very impressed that you camped at Christmas-time! You should be writing an Outdoors blog… So glad to hear you’ll be moving here. Feel free to send your email again or at least call when you get here. Happily, Kathy

Kathy-Sue-Lou!
I wish I could pitch my tent next to yours! Actually my tent has room for 4 sleepers … so we could have collective body warmth … w/ all that breathing!
I love the medal that you shared so proudly with all of us!

Thanks, Patty Sue. Could have used that collective body warmth last night! And if anyone else is wondering how to comment, you just click on the word “comments” or “no comments” under the title and following the tags. A page will magically appear to which you sign in and offer your moral support or words of wisdom.

Hi:
I enjoy your blog! Sounds like you might live near my cousin in L’Anse (Skanee).
Are you planning to continue after your 365-day commitment?
I’d like to add you to my blogroll; please check out my blog and let me know if it’s okay:

Kath, so glad you’re enjoying this blog. I have no idea about continuing after December 21st next year. On one hand, this has been so fun! Really, one of the best years ever. On the other hand, it’s a bit of pressure having to post every day. Barry keeps saying, “You can’t quit after a year!” At least there’s six months to think about it… Will email you about who your cousin is. And will put your blog on my blogroll, too!
Thanks, Kathy

Your Blog is great!!! This is my escape to the UP everyday down here below the bridge. I can also see my shoreline on the silver from one of the pics in your blog along with my Grandma’s cabin through the trees to the south at the river bend. Thank you so much for all of the beautiful pictures from the area of the UP that I love so much. Thanks again for all of your hard work for all of our enjoyment.

Brian, thank you! I am so glad you get to experience a lil bit of the UP through this blog. How cool that yhou could see your shoreline and your Grandma’s cabin from one of the pictures. That is so neat! Hope you get to come up here again soon.

Hi there,
How I wish I can also do what you are doing~~experiencing the great outdoors all year round. That’s what I’ve been meaning to do. Unfortunately, I’m strapped to my chair in the office. But I do take advantage of every opportunity that comes my way to enjoy nature and many other blessings of Earth.

Oh those office chairs!
I imagine it is hard to get outside and take advantage of the Earth when you have a full-time job and perhaps a long list of things to do when you get home. I have two part-time jobs, and one is from home, so it’s somewhat easier. However, I know some people who try for a half hour before work or a half hour after. Not saying it would work for your schedule, though. Thanks for stopping by to read.

Can’t believe I’m just now finding your blog! I LOVE the UP! I lived in Hancock for 6 years in the early 80’s and it’s in my blood! I’m going to have to go back and read your entries for a “UP Fix” and I am really glad to be able to do that! Thanks for sharing a wonderful part of the world with everyone!

Dawn, I am so thrilled that you found these Upper Peninsula adventures! You will have to go back and read 336 days worth. (ha ha) You especially might like some of the posts from up in the Copper Country. Really glad you discovered this so you can get a UP fix anytime you want it. At least for next month.
