Blue blue sky with white white clouds and dark green trees
Sometimes I stress out trying to come up with an interesting blog relating to the time spent outdoors.
New resolution: no more stressing out. I don’t care if these posts get boring. Time to maybe just get more simple sometimes and share without trying to come up with an interesting story.
I don’t even have a single photo from today. These all presented themselves yesterday at Catherine’s house and near Deb’s raspberry patch up in Herman.

Today’s time outdoors:
1) Talking to my friend Melinda out in California on the phone, lounging on the deck.
2) Picking lettuce in the garden.
3) Talking and laughing with Barry on the deck before dinner.
4) Eating dinner on the deck. (My, the deck was popular today!)
5) And who knows what else after this blog is written?

Downward view at the top of one of Catherine's flowers--unique, eh?
Let’s see: weather. Our temps have soared! We’ve approached the upper 70′s, nudging 80. It’ s SUMMER!! Hurray!! The berries are bursting forth everywhere; it’s a raspberry and thimbleberry heaven. THIS is what we’ve dreamed about. It’s here. Heaven. It doesn’t get any better than this.

What are those apples like? I have some that are similar looking with the blush of red. They are very tart!

I have no idea! They were on my friend Deb’s trees. And she’s off for a visit to Ohio or someplace south tomorrow, so we can’t even ask her. They do look tart.

Don’t stress out, your area is so wonderful…just keep opening the door and going outside!
And porch time is very valuable time spent outside. We like to count the cars that go by, not many! Have a great day!

Hi there NLSM, wondering if you’re outside on your porch right now on this hot August night. Bet you don’t have many cars…neither do we. We might have better luck counting the robins, you think?

These photos are very summery. That one with the blue sky with the trees and the cloud is especially so. I love the aerial view of the poppy pod. Those blue thistles look almost alien. The apples are lovely. No wonder they’re such a popular subject for artists to paint.
What I find most stressful is not knowing what to write, but finding the time to do it. I think we worry too much!

Should we sing “Don’t worry, be happy…”?? That’s interesting that you stress about finding the time to write. That never even is the slightest worry, except on a super busy day. Truly, 95% of the days are easy and non-stressful. When it seems hard to come up with something to write is when I’ve been very inward and introspective all day. That’s when it gets challenging. I am thinking about giving myself permission just to post a couple photos on days like that. Do you think?

Ha ha Kathy! I almost wrote ‘don’t worry, be happy’ in my comment
Pictures can take the place of so many words. I think they can reveal more of we think than words at times and are so much more easily and quickly ‘read’ by others than long paragraphs of text. However, they are more open to interpretation. You could throw caution to the wind and give it a try.
As for finding time, I’m guilty of always trying to cram too much into a day, and when my 3 year old grandson is here, it’s especially busy. I have been ‘giving myself permission’ to not write every day, especially on weekends. I struggle with writing less than more… less being the ideal. It’s not easy. It seems like we both have such pre-conceived notions and self-imposed restrictions concerning ‘how’ we should be doing this blog thing. Maybe we should both loosen up a bit
But of course that’s easier said than done!
I really like Susan’s words.

Simple is good, and under-rated. Simple is beautiful as are your words, your pictures, and your Self …

Susan, simple is so often under-rated. And yet brings us the most joy. Thank you… and am looking forward so much to our walk/hike next Tuesday. It will be lovely to spend some time with you and Denise together.

Cindy, you wouldn’t believe how simple I just got with tonight’s blog. Hardly any words at all. You will be proud.
